Referral Fees
We receive none. Here is that in writing.
Global Quality Estates receives no referral fees. Not from contractors, not from solicitors, not from mortgage brokers, not from anyone.
What a referral fee is
A referral fee is any commission, payment, fee, reward, gift or other benefit an agent receives from a third-party service provider in return for recommending them to you. It is a legal and common practice in this industry, and National Trading Standards requires agents to disclose both who pays them and how much.
Our position
We take nothing
We receive no commission, payment, fee, reward or other benefit from any third party for recommending their services. That includes contractors, tradespeople, referencing providers, inventory clerks, solicitors, surveyors, mortgage brokers, removal firms, utility switching services, insurers and deposit schemes.
Two consequences worth spelling out, because they are the point of the policy rather than a side effect:
- Contractor invoices are passed on at cost. If a plumber charges £120, your statement shows £120. We add no margin, mark-up or handling charge to work carried out on a property we manage.
- A recommendation is only ever a recommendation. When we suggest a contractor or a solicitor, it is because we think they are good at the job. We have nothing to gain from you choosing them, and nothing to lose if you choose somebody else.
You are never obliged to use anybody we suggest, and you are welcome to appoint your own contractors, solicitor, broker or surveyor at any time.
What we do charge for
Our income comes from our own fees, published in full and nowhere else. Landlords pay a management or letting fee. Tenants pay no agency fees at all, which the Tenant Fees Act 2019 requires. See our full fee schedule.
If this ever changes
If we enter a referral arrangement in future, this page will list the provider and the amount before we recommend them to anyone, and our Terms of Business point here rather than repeating the figures, so it is always current.
